WORKING TOGETHER TO IMPROVE LIVES

As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue, more and more of our service men and women are experiencing both physical and emotional wounds. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine and the Tug McGraw Foundation know that the pace at which scientific advancements are made can be accelerated through increased civilian/military partnerships.

With the support of co-chairs Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Country United is a two-day event comprised of the Partnership for Military Medicine Symposium and the Country United Gala taking place on November 6 & 7, 2009 in Washington, DC. The symposium will highlight discoveries in military medicine and foster collaborations among military and civilian partners to further advance research and clinical care. The Country United Gala will recognize the efforts of medical researchers, clinicians, and educators, as well as friends of military medicine.

Partnership for Military Medicine Symposium

The symposium will feature leaders from military and civilian medicine who will address the following topics: PTSD, TBI and Neuroscience Research; Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Response; and Infectious Diseases.

Registration includes breakfast, luncheon with keynote speaker Faith Hill, and a networking reception.

Country United Gala

Join HJF and TMF together with Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Emmy-winning sports broadcaster Bob Costas, for an evening to honor medical researchers, clinicians and educators, as well as friends of military medicine, who’ve worked tirelessly to advance medical care for our nation’s warriors and improve the quality of their lives.

Senior ranking military, Members of Congress, members of the Administration, active-duty service members, wounded warriors, patients, and caregivers will be in attendance.

Gala Ticket includes general reception, awards dinner, silent and live auction, and concert.

Proceeds from Country United will benefit the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine and The Tug McGraw Foundation and their work to advance medical care for our nation’s service members and civilians. Through HJF, funds will benefit the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU)—our nation’s only federal school of medicine and graduate school of nursing. USU–the West Point of military medicine–prepares the next generation of uniformed doctors, nurses and federal health researchers. Through TMF, funds will further civilian and military collaborations in the neurosciences to improve diagnostics, treatments and quality of life for military and civilian patients.
